When studying about weather, wind, and water, the Happy Hippos said they wanted to learn more about Rainbows. We did an experiment exploring the colors of a rainbow and how water freezes. Parents and children collected objects the colors of the rainbow so we could put them in a disposable pie pan with the matching colored water. We froze the water overnight then hung them outside in the tree by our window. The children enjoyed watching how fast the sun catchers melted.
